Biography

A Young Officer

Early Life

During the reign of Nominus Prime, a hot spot in Iacon yielded a green, or "Point One Percenter" spark. This spark grew into Orion Pax, who developed a truck alternate-mode. Pax attended the Institute for Higher Programming, from which he graduated first in his class. He also attended the Academy of Science and Technology, where he met Ratchet, an aspiring medic. Unlike most of Cybertron, Orion was a skeptic, doubting the existence of the Knights of Cybertron and believing the Matrix of Leadership to be nothing more than a pulsewave generator.

Rodion

Orion Pax eventually decided to join Cybertron's police force. He rose through the ranks, becoming the police captain in the city-state of Rodion, where he became friends with Roller and the brothers Springarm and Wheelarch, officers in the Rodion Police. Pax often worked on cleaning up the Dead End, arresting the many syk dealers and leakers who frequented the area. He eventually convinced Ratchet, who had since been promoted to Chief Medical Officer of the Senate, to open up a drop-in center for Empties.

Around 4th Cycle 496, officers arrested a miner named Megatron on charges of assault inside Maccadam's New Oil House. Believing him to be innocent on a hunch, Orion called the bartender, who said Megatron stayed out of the fight. He called Megatron to his desk, where he told the miner that he was intrigued with his writings and released the Tarnian. It was brought to Pax's attention that one of his officers, Whirl, had assaulted Megatron while he was in custody. Therefore, Orion had him placed in a cell himself. That night, as he listened to police reports of the assassination attempt on Nominus Prime, Orion Pax was approached by three Senate enforcers, who requested that Whirl should be released from custody since he was on the Senate's payroll as well. However, due to his sense of justice, Pax refused, saying he was a criminal and Whirl broke the law, prompting the enforcers to leave.

Feeling uneasy after this confrontation, Pax went out to the Dead End and arrested over thirteen offenders, much to Springarm and Wheelarch's surprise. As he prepared to go out again, Springarm asked the captain what had prompted all of this, to which he replied that it was a combination of Megatron's words and the visit by Sentinel's men. The officer asked Orion if he had ever tried to channel his uneasiness by faith, but he responded by saying he was non-religious in almost all aspects but thanked Springarm for his help as he went out.

As he returned with yet another offender, Orion discovered Wheelarch's decapitated form on the stairs to the headquarters. Drawing his rifle, he found both Springarm's and Wheelarch's heads inside a trophy case and the Senate enforcers releasing Whirl from jail. Orion demanded they cease immediately, but the thugs broke his rifle and forced him to retreat, but not before Whirl's leg was shot off.
