Biography[edit | edit source]

The First Cybertronian[edit | edit source]

During times ancient past, the first Cybertronian, Primus, came into existence on Cybertron, sporting the serial code "000000001". Unlike future generations, Primus had many abilities not displayed by any other Cybertronians, such as extreme durability, the ability to recover from extreme wounds almost to the point of immortality, and the ability to create photonic crystals, which were able to carry a spark's energy seemingly indefinitely. Around 12,000,000 BC, he discovered that he could transform in a device that created matrices while he was in an area that would later be deemed by future Cybertronians as Iacon.

At some point, Primus used his ability to create photonic crystals to give life to four Cybertronians that would each embody an aspect of a future Cybertron's society. These 'bots were Mortilus, who was an embodiment of death, Epistemus, the avatar of intellect, Solomus, wisdom incarnate, and Adaptus, the patron of transformation. Together, this group, which became known as the Guiding Hand, went across Cybertron to ignite the hot spots all along its surface, giving birth to the first generation of Cybertronians and ensuring the creation of more. Among this generation were the first Titans, Metroplex, Metrotitan, and Chela, three massive Cybertronians capable of transforming into starships large enough to transport armies.

During this infancy of Cybertronian culture, Primus supposedly delivered the Primal Pastoral on the spot that later became Crystal City and was attributed to the Primal Sacrament. He also created the Matrix of Leadership, a symbol of divine leadership. Under the Hand's leadership, Cybertron evolved into a utopia. However, Adaptus believed that without a change, society would stagnate, with a war against neighboring systems being the only option. The rest of the Hand refused, and so began the God War.

Alongside Mortilus, Epistemus, and Solomus, Primus led the battle against Adaptus. Realizing he was defeated, the entity of change retreated to his base on Luna 1 and prepared a device that would launch an electromagnetic pulse designed to erase all Cybertronians' memories, allowing him to escape. Adaptus fired the weapon, and Primus bore the brunt of the blast, but all of Cybertron was still affected, causing the birth of the phenomenon known as information creep. Due to being caught in the main part of the blast, Primus' memories, along with all of Cybertron, were erased along with their identities. However, the first Cybertronian also became forgettable, making no one on Cybertron recognize him for who he was.

Fading Into Obscurity[edit | edit source]

As Adaptus fled in an upgraded Luna 1, Primus faded into obscurity. Legends began to spring up about the Guiding Hand among many religious sects. One of the most popular myths was the belief the Primus was a warrior-god, who split his essence to form the Guiding Hand from his frame. Instead of Adaptus, Mortilus turned against his brothers in a similar "God War" which left the members of the Hand trapped in various forms until Primus fashioned a casket, Vector Sigma, and banished Mortilus' base into the cosmos. The Hand then combined their minds to form the Afterspark, a place of eternal life. Another tale told of Primus fighting his opposite in a battle before time itself, with the first Cybertronian defeating his opponent by becoming Cybertron itself.

The Knights of Cybertron led Cybertron for a time before leaving to find the Hand, not knowing many of them remained on Cybertron. With their departure, Cybertronian society degraded into tribalism. Numerous tribes became united under an alliance of tribes, using a flag called the "First Face" based off of Primus' countenance. As time passed, more and more Cybertronians became disillusioned with the Guiding Hand, turning Cybertron into a more secular society.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

During the early reign of Nova Prime around 7,000,000 BC, Primus reemerged under the name Rung of the Pious Pools, a quiet, unassuming 'bot. Due to the electromagnetic blast, Rung was completely unaware of his past life, misinterpreting his serial number as reading "100000000" and believing himself to be so forgettable due to mode attachment. During his "formative" years, Rung lived in the Vinvissius Canals and became friends with a veteran of the First Cybertronian Civil War, a native of Tesarus named Kup.

Nova Prime began planning the Expansion, an idea to spread Cybertronian culture to stars, by force if necessary. Requiring soldiers to make up his army, Nova discovered Rung's ability to create photonic crystals, and the "young" Cybertronian found himself press-ganged into service forming photonic crystals to house sparks bled from the Matrix of Leadership. Under unknown circumstances most likely relating to his memory loss, Rung, along with the rest of Cybertronian society, came to believe these crystals were artificially built.

Rung soon decided to move into the field of psychotherapy, becoming well-known for "Rungian analysis" before the launch of the Ark. In 6,200,000 BC, Rung was on the original crew manifest for the Ark, but stayed on Cybertron by Senatorial request.

Beginnings of Conflict[edit | edit source]

Following the disappearance of Nova Prime, Nominus Prime and the Functionist Council took control alongside the Senate. While the Council was at the height of its power, a unique problem presented itself: Rung, with a seemingly useless alternate mode. A threat to both the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy and functionism itself, the council began to have Rung undergo testing to figure out his purpose and forced him to wear a wheel to "reassure" the public. Eventually, the Functionists decided to give him a new classification specifically for him, the class of ornament.

Eventually, Rung became employed by the Senate as a patho-psychologist. He became good friends with a fellow psychologist, Froid
