Publisher's summary
On Cybertron, Optimus Prime battles the Dinobots over the first new Cybertronian life to emerge in four million years! But does he stand a chance when the Dinobots’ newest member is two miles tall and eats cities?
Plot summary
On "Botanica", properly known as Regalis V, Prowl fires his vamparc ribbon at the attacking beastformers to clear a path for Garnak and Wheelie to rescue the surviving three Throttlebots. In the skies above, three Cybertronians surround Stardrive, who, after attempting to dissuade them from their path, transforms into a biomechanical form, courtesy of a Dire Wraith infection, and blasts them to shreds. The Camien tells Prowl that she only wanted to be left alone, but the renegade Autobot says that she is saving more lives by killing their assailants. The group boards the Peaceful Revolution and take off, as Goldbug is amazed by Prowl's collection of weaponry and artifacts.
In the Cybertronian Outback, Optimus Prime attempts to restrain Slug from assaulting his fellow Dinobots. However, he is forced to break off when Sandstorm attacks the Prime. Strafe realizes something is off about Slug and sends Sludge to go "protect the newcomers". As the saurian Cybertronian plods off, he is followed by Arcee. Centurion punches Sandstorm in order to break up the fight between him and Optimus, saying they need to stop thinking with their weapons. Optimus realizes that his initial plan to rescue protoforms has now turned into a way to put people in danger.
Sludge enters a cave and goes into a nearby hole, and is followed by Arcee who is prepared to do battle with him. However, she is tackled by a small robot into the hole. Turning around, she discovered the 'bot is one of the missing protoforms and the ground on which she is standing is Trypticon's eyebrow. The Titan yells at her to not harm his children, just as Sludge reveals that the rest of the protoforms are under Trypticon's care.
On the surface, Optimus receives a transmission from Arcee telling him of what is transpiring, leading him to begin planning a cunning strategy. He sends Garrison Blackrock to retrieve Marissa Faireborn as he rushes off to stop Slug. The Prime convinces the Dinobot to move on from his past grudges, leading to Bludgeon, who is controlling Slug and watching through his eyes, telling Slug to kill Optimus. Suddenly, Starscream bursts into the room Bludgeon is in and, due to Bludgeon wanting to kill the Prime rather than gather the protoforms, breaks the Void Scepter, freeing Slug from its control.
In the wilderness, Trypticon, with Arcee and the protoforms still on his head, bursts from underground and tells all of the combatants to cease their hostilities. Within Iacon, Starscream thanks Bumblebee for informing him of Bludgeon's machinations, just as Blackrock and Marissa Faireborn arrive in the wilderness. Optimus announces that just as Metrotitan is the Cybertronian embassy on Earth, Trypticon will serve as Earth's embassy on Cybertron. Therefore, the protoforms, including the one that Arcee has dubbed "Sideswipe", are under Earth's care and thus under Prime's authority. Sandstorm is enraged by Prime turning this into a political move, but Centurion is hopeful as the protoforms will grow up under peace. The Dinobots welcome Slug back into their fold, but Prime believes they are all being manipulated, just as Bludgeon laments that his master will be displeased.
Aboard Metrotitan, Pyra Magna, Skyburst, and Stormclash return from their escapades on Cybertron through the spacebridge. The group informs Aileron of their escapades, but she is worried that Optimus has not returned. Asking Pyra about him, the Torchbearer brushes her off and says she has business to attend to. This "business" is reporting to Prowl, who she informs of Optimus' completed goal: due to the energon shortage, Earth and Cybertron are now linked. Prowl is not surprised, but is more concerned by the appearance of the beastly Cybertronians, as they are not Eukarians based on Pyra's data. Who or whatever they are, Earth and Cybertron need to be prepared for their eventual onslaught.

Behind the scenes
Continuity references
- Stardrive was implied to have been infected by the Dire Wraith Vekktral during the Battle of Xetaxxis. [1] This issue confirms it, but she has control over the infection.
- One of the artifacts onboard the Peaceful Revolution is a stone shaped in the form of a horned head with a mustache. This stone also was one of the things that was stored in Zeta Prime's warehouse,[2] and is most likely designed to be a representation of Unicron.
- Trpyticon calls the protoforms his children, most likely due to the fact that while Trypticon protected them, the Titan also provided the metal necessary for the protoforms to be formed and allowed them to be created with his body. [3]
- When he remembers worlds that where destroyed by the war, Optimus brings up Gorlam Prime, [4] Xetaxxis, [1] and Varas Centralus. [5]
- Blackrock carries Marissa on his back and compares to when Mayday used him as a surfboard on the Moon. [6]
- Stormclash tells her fellow Torchbearers about the attack on Castle Destro, quoting Lady Jaye's instructions during the battle. [7]
Franchise references
Transformers references
- Additional beast mode Cybertronians who did not appear in the previous issue include Insecticon and Transquito who first appeared in the Beast Wars toyline. Also, an unidentified purplish-blue beast gets its jaw blown off by Prowl.
- The planet "Botanica"'s true name is revealed to be Regalis V. This was the name of the planet that Botanica obtained her plant alternate mode in the Beast Machines television series by way of the Transformers: Timelines story The Wreckers issue 5.
- The protoform that Arcee gives the name "Sideswipe" has the color scheme of the 1993 Transformers: Generation 2 Sideswipe toy, both of them wearing black and red.
Errors
- On the first page, "Botanica" is misspelled as "Botinica".
- Stormclash mentions a conversation she had with Lady Jaye, however, it was Skyburst who talked with Jaye, not her. [7]
