James Roberts (born November 15, 1976) is a British Transformers comic book author. Roberts first became involved in a part of Hasbro Universe, Transformers, by joining Transmasters UK, a fan-fiction group.

In 2007, he and fellow writer Nick Roche pitched Transformers: Spotlight—Octane to IDW Publishing. While this was rejected, Roberts eventually was brought on to help Roche with All Hail Megatron issue 15, as a "sounding board".

In 2010, James Roberts and Nick Roche co-wrote the miniseries Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers, then he became a co-writer in the "Chaos" storyline in the mainline Transformers series. After this, he wrote Transformers: Death of Optimus Prime, a one-shot intended to set the status quo from IDW's "Phase Two" of Transformers. He then went on to write the critically acclaimed ongoing series Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye and James is currently writing its successor, Transformers: Lost Light.
