IDW Publishing is one of the largest companies in the realm of comic books. They were the company to create the current "Hasbro Universe".

History[edit | edit source]

Idea and Design Works (IDW) began in 1999, developing products related to video games, movies, television shows, collectible card games, comic books, and trading cards. By 2000, IDW formed its own publishing division, IDW Publishing.

After the collapse of Dreamwave Productions at the beginning of 2005, IDW obtained the license to publish Transformers comics. Three years later in 2008, IDW also gained the license to print G.I. Joe comics after Devil's Due Publishing lost their license. By 2016, IDW had also obtained the rights to Action Man, M.A.S.K., Micronauts, and ROM, printing the comics for these franchise the same year. In 2017, the company began to print Visionaries comics as well.
